Ok, so now I’m worried.
A few weeks back, I noticed that Gunnery.Net had dropped off the ‘net. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, as I figured Marv might have been moving hosts, having domain issues, etc.
Last week I started digging around; I noticed all of Marv’s domains (at least the 4 others I knew about) were off-line as well. All email to any address I ever had for him come back as undeliverable.
Now I haven’t spoken to Marv over the phone since before I stopped helping edit Gunnery.Net, but I decided to give him a ring. Disconnected 866 number. Disconnected long-distance business number. Hmmmm. Ok, I can understand killing the 866 number, those things cost major dough. I can even understand killing the biz number if he wasn’t using it any more.
Then today, disconnected unlisted home number (what can I say, he trusted me). Like I said, now I’m worried. Marvin Stenhammar was in the U.S. Special Forces in the 1980s; he was forced to retire due to a severe injury and a degenerative bone disease. Lucky for Marv, he married a Norse goddess of a doctor, who looked after him when she wasn’t at the hospital. Did they move? Or something worse?
I can’t head over to the SIG-L email list and poke around; the email list about SIG firearms Marv and I met on no longer exists. Or if it does, it’s on a different email server that I have been unable to google. I’ve googled Marv’s name and domains and have come up with squat, at least as far anything recent is concerned.
If you know of whom I speak, and you have information, please drop me a line at: retrophisch at retrophisch.com (sorry, anti-spam measure). I’d just like to know, you know?

This is Linda, Marv's sister, I have been trying to find him too, and can't. I heard he had divorced and moved to Oregon. Is that true? If anyone knows of his whereabouts please tell him to contact me. It's immensly important. I can't live another year without having my little brother back.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Marv please ask him to contact me. I am his sister and I live in Allen, TX. I have recently been diagnosed with cancer (for the 2nd time) and I want to talk to him before I die.

Any word on Marv?

Last word on Marv, and shared with relevant family members, was that he was somewhere in Washington state. I have not been contacted by him, not having heard back from any of the emails sent to him last year.
I consider this chapter of my life closed. I wish Marv the best and hope he gets his act together personally and professionally.

Last I heard, Marv Stenhammar was arrested for fraud for accepting funds for firearms and parts which he never delivered. You may still be able to find details of his dishonest dealings at ar15.com and sigforum.com.
Members of the old SIG-L remember Marv well. He never passed up an opportunity to brag about his exploits in Panama, on the shooting range, or in front of Congress. They'll also remember that he was the subject of many complaints for selling SIG-Sauer P229 magazines and failing to deliver. Most people got what they'd ordered within the following few months, but there were a few who sent money in good faith and got back nothing but e-mailed threats and harrassment.
In the last days of SIG-L, Marv "officially" boycotted the list, but someone claiming to be his business partner would spew forth the same kind of Marv venom, in the same Marv style from the same IP address and service provider. When Julian Frost, owner of the old SIG-L asked that Marv tone down his relentless commercial plugs and personal attacks, an anonymous tipster contacted UC Irvine officials and complained that the mailing list and Julian's related web site was using university resources. Julian was forced to take down the site, and the list was never re-established.
Marv had also started his very own SIG-Sauer web site and mailing list a couple of months before the mysterious complaint to UC Irvine. gunnery.net was a reflection of its owner, featuring a couple of articles that were ripped off, word for word, from another SIG-Sauer web site without permission.
The guy was a legend in his own mind and his all talk, no action reputation finally caught up with him. Good riddance.

Some of the old I-SIG members have gathered at another board. Email me for more info. I'm dying to find out what happened to Sgt. Asscheese.
BTW, I hope the best for his family.
