More minor site work

I don’t know what it is, but sometimes I get this minimalist bug. So yesterday I decided to kill the parchment background (thanks again, Lee!) and just go with white. Helps save on the bandwidth for dial-up users as well.

Also, I added in a dotted separation line for the banner title and description at the top. I really like the way the site looks in IE 5/Mac. I just wish it looked as good in Camino and Safari. I’m soliciting feedback on this new addition, so leave a comment!

Well, I have been toying with digging into CSS a little more and coming up with giving users themes for the site. Maybe the parchment will make a comeback that way.

Besides, studies have shown that people read better with black lettering on white backgrounds. Why do you think the auto makers are slowly converting dashboard gauges to that configuration?

I've heard others that say complete contrast is a little too much, and that dark grey on white is actually better. et cetera, et cetera.

If you want some theming stuff, I have a pair of neat little scripts that will do it easily... drop me a line or something if you want to mess about with them. :D

Camino, like Safari, doesn't show the vertical dotted line that separates the links column on the right from the content on the left. I'm not sure if it's a CSS support issue, or what, since IE 6/Win doesn't show it either.
