Just downloaded the 214 MB Mac OS X 10.4.7 Intel Combo updater at a rate of 1.6 MB per second. That’s a big B. As in megabytes.
Fiber optic rocks.
Right. Well, I can always gloat about the 15mbps fiber line at my office and the fact that I'm one of the few people on the gigabit switch so my transfers between computers in my office and to and from the server (with which I often interact) is pretty blazing.

Just shut up, the both of you! It's criminally unfair that you get fiber at home and I have to pay through the nose for this "broadband" (ha, ha) connection from Bright House. I have a not-awful but just O.K. cable Internet connection at home, and a just barely tolerable connection of one kind or another at work, where I share it with nine million other people.
Even when I lived on campus and connected via wire, I never got speed comparable to that. Bah humbug.

There's a phrase I'm looking for.
Oh right.
Die in a fire.
