Red Sox ace Curt Schilling is blogging.
(And for all the geeks, he’s using WordPress.)
Seriously, the most amusing part of Schilling blogging is the reaction of the mainstream media. Some folks seem to think it's great, but others are plainly petrified of people having direct access to athletes for information instead of needing to rely on the press.

Eric, I kind of gathered that from reading the oldest two posts in the RSS feed. One of the things I've always liked about Schilling is that he doesn't pretend to be something he's not; what you see and hear is what you get. He's comfortable in his own skin, and he doesn't care what anyone else thinks of that.
I liked one comment he made about how much happier he'd be if, and I'm paraphrasing, the sports media would just go read his blog after a game instead of hassling him in the locker room. :-)

That's really interesting. Hmm. After all, professional athletes are people who have a lot of free time on their hands; but at the same time, they are not always the sharpest tools in the shed. Wonder what kind of damage an overly candid athlete could do with his own blog?
On an unrelated note, he used to live across the street from my parents. They've moved, and I believe so has he, but that was always entertaining. Like when he would have press conferences, they would park on our front "lawn" (of gravel).
