First Day at Primrose

Yesterday marked Davis’s first time in day care at the Primrose School of Northeast Flower Mound. Nancy, Carrie, and the other caregivers received our little guy graciously, going over the various procedures with Mom and Dad.

Mom was not very happy about leaving her little guy, as was expected by both of us. This being a short week (Primrose is closed Thursday and Friday), it was a good trial period before Kelly returns to work on January 5th. I think next week is going to be pretty rough on Mom, who has been with her son every day since he was born…

First Christmas

Davis’s first Christmas was a great one! The little guy did well on the 20-hour round-trip drive, only getting really cranky the last two hours of the return trek.

He got to see his Grandma Pat, who was home from the hospital for the holidays, as well as doting Grandpa Bucky. Aunt Tresa took over the Christmas responsibilities this year, and did a super job, even getting Davis his very own Pooh stocking. Uncle David met Davis for the first time, and though apprehensive, held his nephew, too!

The reception was equally warm (not surprisingly) from the Turner side of the family in Baton Rouge. Davis’s great-Uncle J.D. and great-Aunt Kay, as well as second-cousins Jay and Heather, with Heather’s husband Robbie, got to see the little guy for the first time in person. To say he was the hit of both gatherings would be an understatement, and despite coming down with a cold, Davis was in good spirits throughout. His Nannie even added a snowman figure to her outdoor exhibit of angels and gingerbread men, representing her grandchildren and now, great-grandchild.

Needless to say, the kid racked up on the gifts, too…

Site tweaking

Dad’s been doing some minor tweaking of Davis’s blog, mainly to clean up some code, as well as to have it mimick the layout of Dad’s other sites. One such tweak was the removal of the calendar in the upper left; it didn’t fit in well with the width properties of the layout. If you really really miss the calendar, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to get the layout I’d like while keeping the calendar.

College fund

Last week, we set up Davis’s college fund. Any of his grandmas and grandpas, great-grandmas, aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, second- and third-cousins, friends of all ages, and even perfect strangers can donate to the college fund. Simply make your check payable to Scholar’s Edge and mail it to Davis’s mom and dad, who will see that it gets deposited in to his college account.

Miss me?

After a rough night that had Mom up a lot, Davis slept most of the day that saw Dad at his new job for the first time. After a month out of work, Daddy was glad to be working again, but really missed Davis!

First Thanksgiving

Davis’s first Thanksgiving was spent with his Grandma and Grandpa Turner visiting Dallas, as well as his great-grandmother, Nannie. Davis’s Aunt Angela stopped over Thanksgiving day before having to head back to Birmingham for work on the holiday weekend. This was both Nannie’s and Aunt Angela’s first time seeing Davis in person.

Davis missed seeing his Grandma Pat and Grandpa Bucky, and hopes that Grandma Pat is feeling better.

Part of the Friday after Thanksgiving was spent with Dad and Grandpa watching LSU beat up Arkansas. Dressed in a Tigers onesie, Davis is already being prepped for “Hey, Fightin’ Tigers!”
