"God!"

In the toddler room last week at church, they shared the memory verse for the month. (Yeah, I know, it’s kind of hard for kids who can barely speak to get the whole memory verse thing, but the church runs with a lesson/theme each month for the entire children’s ministry.) The verse is Joshua 1:9, which reads “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

The part they’re teaching the kids is that last bit, “God will be with you wherever you go.”

So this past Tuesday night (the 21st), while sitting at the dinner table, Dad was reading over the slip of paper with the memory verse on it. He read it aloud, and he and Mom told Davis this meant no matter where he was, who he was with, or if he was alone, God would be with him. This was when Davis decided to say “God!” for the first time.

Cute?

Invariably whenever my son meets new people, especially women, two observations are generally made:

  1. “He’s so cute!”

and some time later in the conversation/meeting…

  1. “He looks just like you/his daddy!”

Therefore, I have surmised that I, his father, must be cute. Does this not make logical sense? The mother of my child mockingly tells me this is not necessarily so. I’m just looking for some validation here.
