New hand-tossed clay world record

Jim Scoutten of Shooting USA is reporting that Tom Knapp has set a new world record of ten hand-tossed clays:

Yesterday was Tom’s second officially certified attempt to raise his record of 9 hand-tossed clays, with each broken by an individual shot from his Benelli autoloading shotgun, to a new world record of 10. He managed the remarkable feat in ideal weather conditions at 5:00PM Central Time at Big Springs Clay Target Sports.

Tom Knapp has held the previous record of 9 hand-tossed clays since 1993 and has regularly performed the feat in his live appearances across the country. Raising the record to 10 clays was not easy.

Tom first attempted a new world record at Dalton, MN, a month ago. But the Minnesota wind conditions prevented a successful conclusion.

Wednesday was the second certified record attempt, certified by Judge and NRA Board Member Dwight Van Horn and by an official NRA World Record Certificate.

If you’ve ever seen clay shooting, either by hand or machine, you will know how impressive this is. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, never mind.

(Thanks to Jack on the World SIG list for the notice.)
