Marriage poll

The American Family Association is conducting an online poll regarding the issue of homosexual marriage.

While I believe that the institution of marriage was established by God the Father as a union between a man and a woman, I have to respect the commitment of those supporting homosexual marriage. The AFA’s own poll shows that once word gets out in the homosexual community, they can mobilize their supporters swiftly, as voting in favor of homosexual marriage on the AFA poll has risen from three percent to over fifty percent in the past three days.

Hmmm. I wonder where the term "Silent Majority" comes from. Not!

Being a Christian, it's pretty obvious why I don't believe homosexuality is right. But, that's not my opinion. That's God's law.

But even from a natural and social perspective, if everybody was homosexual, humanity would cease to exist. We wouldn't even be here right now. Life exists because living things (humans, animals, plants) reproduce. Life produces more life. The opposite of life is death.

John, I think the gay lobby has proven to be very effective as a "vocal minority". The reason they can mobilise is because they are a close knit and well informed community. They believe in their choice of lifestyle and aren't willing to give it up, to them it is a struggle, a real one whose major battles threaten the heart of their existence.

FranX, perhaps you should try to make up your own mind about these things rather than defering to "God's Law". You are using the Bible as a lazy alternative to critical thinking. Remember that times change and so do the interpretations of the Bible. We don't stone our children to death for insolence anymore for example. Further, the fact is that the whole world is not gay and isn't going to be any time soon or ever. It's not a disease, you can't catch it.

I personally can't understand why gay people would want to get married anyway, except to make a point about seperation of church and state. Which is what the debate comes down to when you look at it.
