Iosis

No, not oasis, Iosis. And it’s from, of all companies, Ford. With the exception of the neo-retro Mustang, this is probably the best concept to come out of the Blue Oval in quite a while.

We’re not allowed to have this why?

So next year’s Civic for the States is ho-hum, but the European version of the 2006 Honda Civic kills. The Euro-Civic has the Si-inspired hatchback-style rear, but that could easily be elongated for Stateside sales. Plus, selling the same style as the Euro-Civic would be very, very popular with the kids. Why oh why, Honda, are we not getting this car here?
Update, 2:00 PM CST: It would appear we’ll see the Euro-Civic in America as the new CRX, or at least a variation thereof. Still, the front end of the Euro-Civic needs to be standard across the board, not just on the sporty, hatchback coupe model.

Retro-chic RV

The T@B. Teardrop-shaped, aluminum body. Too small for our family, and we’re not in the market, anyway, but I thought it was nice looking.

Jeep CheroH3

I just saw a commercial for the new Hummer reallyreally-a-waste-of-money H3. Does anyone else think that, in profile, this looks like a GM knockoff of the venerable Jeep Cherokee?

Friendly neighborhood Copmaro

Note to self: on the highways around the DFW metroplex, if you spot the Narco Camaro, it is not your friend…

Retrophisch Road Rule No. 1

When making a right-hand turn at an intersection where you have a green light, it is not necessary to come to a full and complete stop before turning, thus forcing the vehicle behind you to wait, then miss the green as it turns yellow, then red.
I only bring this up because it happened to me today.
Twice.
Within eight minutes of one another.

The 2006 Civic

Please understand that the following comment is coming from a Honda convert. My wife drives an Odyssey minivan. I drive the Pilot SUV. I plan on my next vehicle being the new Ridgeline truck. I’m a Honda fan, okay?
Could Honda have dropped the ball any lower on the Civic’s redesign? Bleh.

Nissan to take on Porsche?

I read this story with some amusement. If Nissan is serious about competing with Porsche, maybe they can start with modding up their interiors so it doesn’t feel like you’re surrounded by cheap plastic (which you indeed are).
I’ve sat in a 350Z, and it’s nearly as bad as any given Chevrolet. I have often contrasted the 350Z against the Maxda RX-8, the interior of which looks and feels much more refined.
Besides, I don’t see the California Highway Patrol ordering 200 Zs. 😉

Gladiator to be a reality?

Inside Line is reporting the possibility of a four-door, Gladiator-style, Jeep truck that may appear in 2008. My hope is that if Jeep brings a truck to fruition, it is as true to the Gladiator concept as possible, and not a truck version of the Wrangler. A four-door production Gladiator would wrest the Honda Ridgeline from the top spot in my truck wish list.
